How the Warlock class will change
For fans of the Warlock class, the gameplay will be filled with references to the most popular archetypes among fans: Big Warlock and Hand Warlock
The Warlock class is one of the most versatile and powerful classes in Hearthstone, but it also comes with a high risk and reward factor. The Warlock’s hero power, Life Tap, allows them to draw a card at the cost of two health, which can be a double-edged sword in some situations. The Warlock class also has access to some of the most potent spells and minions in the game, but they often have drawbacks or negative effects that require careful planning and strategy.
Big Warlock: This archetype focuses on summoning large and powerful minions, often cheating them out with cards like Voidcaller, Skull of the Man’ari, and Enhanced Dreadlord. The update will introduce some new cards that support this playstyle, such as Dark Portal, a 4-mana spell that draws a minion and reduces its cost by 5, and Mal’Ganis, a 9-mana legendary demon that gives your other demons +2/+2 and makes your hero immune. These cards will allow Big Warlock players to create more pressure and tempo on the board, while also protecting themselves from damage.
Overhand Warlock: This archetype relies on drawing and discarding cards to gain advantages and trigger effects. The update will add some new cards that enhance this mechanic, such as Soulfire, a 1-mana spell that deals 4 damage to a random enemy and discards a random card, and Hand of Gul’dan, a 6-mana spell that draws 3 cards when you play or discard it. These cards will help Overhand Warlock players to cycle through their deck faster and find the right cards for the situation, while also dealing damage and generating value.
In the new expansion, Big Warlock will play the role of a tabletop player, fielding huge chess pieces early and summoning copies of them using Copy and Resurrection cards
